Walter Moss Seed Company was established in 1992 with great dreams and aspirations of taking forages to new heights. The company founder, Walter K. Moss, an agronomist with 40 years experience in the seed industry, would introduce the world to a new concept...photo period sensitive forage sorghums.
Since the introduction of hybrid forage sorghums in 1957, growers were confined to a very narrow window of time for their crop harvesting. Often, this window of opportunity was lost due to various weather conditions and other obstacles. This new photo period sensitive genetic trait would enable a plant continuous growth until the grower could harvest or until the day length decreased to less than 12 hours and 20 minutes. Finally, after 35 years, a growers dream had come true. When they planted a Circle M Brand Seed from Walter Moss Seed Company, they could now harvest at their convenience. |
Our History
In 1992, 4EVER GREEN, a photo period sensitive forage sorghum was released to the public. This was the first such forage to be developed and as of today remains the world's only forage sorghum of it's kind. 4EVER GREEN will not flower for up to 180 days, and will produce 21 or more leaves per plant in a growing season.

In 1995, MEGA GREEN, a photo period sensitive hybrid sorghum sudangrass with the same characteristics as it's predecessor 4EVER GREEN, was released. MEGA GREEN has a smaller stalk and under good growing conditions can set a new leaf every 3-days, and MEGA GREEN is resistant to green bugs, leaf rust and are ergot free.
